Welcome to our Portable Automated Rapid Testing (PART) application, a tool designed to evaluate auditory processing abilities through a range of tasks. We would like to express our gratitude to the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Veterans Affairs for their support in developing this application and its underlying research studies.
PART has been crafted to enable users to conduct comprehensive assessments of auditory processing abilities in diverse environments. We acknowledge the intricate ways in which the nervous system processes sound, emphasizing that hearing health is best defined by an individual's proficiency in leveraging the various dimensions of sound.
This application encompasses a broad array of auditory tasks, carefully selected for their effectiveness in assessing auditory function in controlled settings. The task selection process was led by the PART development team, spearheaded by Frederick J. Gallun at the National Center for Rehabilitative Auditory Research, David Eddins at the University of South Florida, and Aaron Seitz at the University of California Riverside (UCR). The development is attributed to the UCR Brain Game Center, a research unit specializing in brain fitness methodologies and applications.
Assessments and Batteries:
- Temporal Sensitivity
- Spectral Sensitivity
- Spectrotemporal Sensitivity
- Binaural Sensitivity
- Spatial Release from Speech on Speech Masking
- Informational Masking (Multiple Burst Paradigm)
The application is continuously evolving and currently offers assessment tools for measuring various auditory abilities. It comes equipped with default batteries that offer concise instructions and examples, including several of the assessments mentioned above.
